A Little Liz Break....

Feeling a bit uninspired today so I thought I'd do one of my favorite things and look up photos of Elizabeth Taylor. These are of the wacky variety, but nonetheless amazing... enjoy!

Sean Young and I at the Oscars!

Before I get to my fave moment of the night, I thought I'd share a few photos of me and my lovely date and bff, Chris on the red carpet... I wore a rented red Badgley Mischka gown and did my own hair thank you very much!

And yes, that is me behind Sean Young and Glenn Close... if you care to find out how the rest of Sean's night went  and to view her photo odyssey, read on here.

All in all I had the best time last night, and given everything that's been going on with me these days, a fancy night on the town was the best pick-me-up! If any of you out there are interested in renting a designer dress, check out Rent the Runway... I was super pleased with their service and love the dress!

Mad Estee Men...

Just days after my Estee Lauder post, I read that the beauty brand will be debuting a new Mad Men inspired line next month... Just goes to show you that one should always stick to the classics!

Global Green Pre-Oscar Party!

Very excited to be attending this pre-oscar party tonight! Since, I work for the Academy, I've attended the actual Oscars twice now, but never an industry party.. well tonight's the night! I'm going with my boyfriend and co., who is part of the group, Fog and Smog who will be performing right before Ms. Sheila E! Yeah, in other words, big time....

So, I must scour my closet to find the perfect vintage dress, since vintage is 'green' after all... stay tuned for post-party updates! xoxo

Youth Dew... Timeless Classic

Today is February 20th, in the US this is President's Day, and in my life this marks the one month anniversary of my grandmother Vivian's passing. As I mentioned before, she was a lady of style and always had the same scent.. Estee Lauder's Youth Dew. This bottle has been on her vanity for as long as I can remember and upon doing a little research, I found out that is was Estee Lauder's first fragrance in 1953. These bottles are still available and in their original packaging as well. I'm really not a perfume girl but you know I will have to get me some of that...

Love you Nana! xoxo... For more of Vivian's style click here.

My Ultimate Style Icon

No, I have not done away with my blog completely, but if you are a loyal reader you'll have noticed I've been away for quite a spell and that is because my beloved grandmother passed away January 20th, of this year. I can't even begin to summarize the experience or the love I have for her in a short blog paragraph so I won't even attempt to. I'd rather share some visuals today. I've been wrestling this month with how to resume 'normal life' - whatever that is - let alone my vintage fashion escapades, all of which can feel very trivial and unimportant at times. But my Nana was always proud of me and what I do and I know would not want me to give up on anything, so I am going to carry on and I'd like my return to Couture Arabesque to illustrate a major style inspiration in my life... Many of you may remember the now defunct ViviBell Vintage, well I'd like you to meet Vivian Belle Kroll.

Of course, this isn't how I remember her... but this is what she was too. And among her many many many amazing qualities, one that she seemed to always posses was elegance. Elegance, style and grace. This was truly carried with her throughout her 86 years and though style was clearly not her only virtue, or the one that she placed the most importance on, it was none the less there and it definitely helps me to re-enter this space I've created here on the interweb. I was scared for a while to come back here, questioning the relevance of it, but I've set down a path that I find happiness in and I feel that Nana would want me to continue down it and see where it leads me. So, in other words, I'm back! Changed - not for better or worse - but back! xoxo.
