Ferragamo Fever

Upon discovering my mom's - now my - Ferragamo purse, and all the pairs of Ferragamo shoes that my grandmother owns, during our winter cleaning.. I started getting very nostalgic about my grandmother and how she always says that Ferragamo is the best! Clearly she believed it as I uncovered about 7 pairs in her closet... When I visited Italy last summer I went to the Ferragamo store determined to buy something but got very gun shy and now regret it immensely. But Salvatore has been on my mind and I wanted to share with you something I discovered a few weeks ago but never got around to posting on... a new exhibition at the Museo Salvatore Ferragamo in Florence. I didn't even know there was a museum.. but now I have yet another reason to go back to Italy! But since we can't go tomorrow, their online exhibitions are pretty extensive, starting with his designs throughout the decades spanning from the 1920s until today...

Also included are examples of all the various fabrics and materials used to create the many many many designs, including painted cloth, fish skin, straw and raffia and cellophane...

Do yourself a favor and check out the site as it is quite extensive... or do me a favor and buy me a plane ticket to Italia!! xoxo
